The last thing that is on your mind after a long day is usually, “What’s for supper?” Some people may dread the question and give into fast food or restaurants. Some people may think it is the best part of the day to have a chance to be creative with food.
The YYC Campus Ministry and Lutheran Campus Ministry wants to answer that question for you every Thursday night at Mount Royal University. They are the hosts of “Simple Supper.”
The event is meant to bring communities together to engage in broad conversations. Margaret Propp is one of the head organizers for “Simple Supper,” and she says that faith communities offer financial support to help run the program.
However, the biggest emphasis about the program is that everyone is welcome. There are no religious or spiritual tradition requirements.
“We use silence as a way to give gratitude, so people from different faith backgrounds don’t feel like something’s pushed onto them that they’re not comfortable with.”
The goal is to bring people together over food and encourage thought provoking conversation.
“We like to keep [the conversation] quite simple; so every time we gather, we just use a word.”
Propp chooses to use just one word so that everyone around the table can join the conversation in however they feel most comfortable.
This event is completely free. The only requirements are to be a post-secondary student and to bring a good attitude.
“Simple Supper” starts at 6 p.m. every Thursday in Z203.
