Some friendly competition is always welcome in this city and the Crowchild Classic has become one of the most well-known. The men’s and women’s hockey team from the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University face each other in an exciting match. Students fill the stands, scream and cheer to let the players down on the ice know that support comes from their school.
For the past 6 years tickets have been given away for free to students from either school until this year. The heads of recreation and the athletics department decided that proceeds from the game could go to better use. This year students paid 5 dollars per ticket.
